"Navarrese Syrah from Tierra Estella: black fruit, spices, and 9 months of American oak in a fresh and sweet key."
Description
Alzania Los Almendros is a single-varietal Syrah red wine produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Alzania, a small family winery founded in 2000 by the winemaking couple María Sáenz-Olazábal and José Manuel Echeverría in Los Arcos, Navarra. It is the younger and more accessible sibling of the emblematic Alzania 21 del 10, the first Syrah varietal in Navarra and a reference for the variety on the peninsula. The grapes come from their own vineyards located in the Tierra Estella subzone, on clay-limestone soils with the presence of gypsum, without synthetic fertilizers or irrigation. The winery's philosophy advocates for minimal intervention, without filtration, clarification, or cold stabilization. The wine undergoes 9 months of aging in American oak, giving it a fresher and fruitier character than its older siblings. The result is an expressive red, with ripe black fruit, spices, and a subtle balsamic touch, with a lively and sweet passage on the palate.
