Josep Foraster Trepat

The Josep Foraster winery, located in the Catalan DO Conca de Barberà, has largely cemented its great reputation with its brilliant and delicate interpretation of the region's native red variety, trepat. One of its most representative wines today is undoubtedly Josep Foraster Trepat, a wine that delighted and continues to delight countless palates with the 2020 vintage. The organically grown grapes used in its production come from the sunny slopes of the Serra de Miramar. There, at 500 meters above sea level, alluvial and clay-calcareous soils are combined with a climate halfway between continental and Mediterranean to obtain a very pure expression of some vines that have more than 40 years. For its elaboration, the grape is collected at the end of October, by hand and selecting the best berries already in the vineyard. After a cold maceration that extracts aromas and colors delicately, a fermentation conducted by native yeasts begins. Already converted into wine, the future Josep Foraster Trepat begins a 7-month aging in large and used French oak barrels, looking for the wood not to impede the expression of the fruit. Finally, it is bottled with an extremely low amount of sulfites. In the glass, it shows a translucent ruby dress and gives us the subtle perfume of strawberries and pomegranates, peppers and ash. It is seductive to the touch,
